Sean’s Hours:
Monday – Thursday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Allison’s Hours:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
How long are sessions?
The first session is an initial assessment that lasts about 90 minutes. After that, sessions are generally one hour. For LENS treatments, sessions are no more than 30 minutes.
What are your fees?
The initial assessment (90791) is $200.
Counseling (90837) for one hour is $125.
LENS sessions (90875) are $125.
LENS and Therapy together are $175.
We do not accept insurance. However, we do provide a SuperBill that can be turned in to your insurance company for reimbursement. We will help you with this process.
What if I need to cancel an appointment?
If you need to change or cancel an appointment, I ask for 24 hours’ notice. Otherwise, I do charge the full fee for the missed session. 24 hours’ notice just allows other clients to be able to schedule as well. Exceptions are made for illness and emergencies.
Who do you work with?
Sean works with adults as individuals or couples and specializes in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Reiki, TAT, Grief and Loss, and LENS Neurofeedback.
Allison works with Adolescents and Adults, specializing in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
What do you do in a session?
I listen to YOU. First, we will get relaxed and just get to know one another. Part of this is done through the assessment.
The assessment is nothing more then me asking questions about your history such as where you are from, where you went to school, what is your family like, what you are experiencing, how long you have had symptoms, etc.
After that, we will set some goals that you will create, so we will know where we are headed.
If you decide to do LENS, then we will do an initial LENS session that is putting 2 sensors at a time around the head on 21 sites to create a map and give us a clear view of how to proceed. This is a really cool process as well as very relaxing.
The main thing to know is that this will always be a friendly and warm environment. Questions are always welcome, and you are in control of the pace.
Once we are underway, I will lead you in a conversation using an approach called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to begin the process of digging into what is behind your symptoms. Sometimes this can get emotional, but it is safe. And I do provide the tissues.
Is there homework?
I do often assign homework. This is not like school. More often, it is keeping track of your week in between sessions as well as using a journal.
What kind of modalities do you use?
We use a variety of approaches depending on the problems and symptoms as well as your comfort.
Sean and Allison use a Cognitive-Behavioral approach that dives into “stinking thinking” that has you stuck and limited, not allowing yourself to live a fully empowered life.
Sean uses Low Energy Neurofeedback (or LENS) that is the reset for the brain to change stuck neural pathways that have resulted in your current symptoms.
Sean and Allison use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) to reduce emotional ties to past traumatic events.
Sean uses Tapas Acupressure Technique (or TAT) is another modality that assists in letting go of the past and into forgiveness.
Sean also uses Reiki (or energy healing) to unblock stuck energy patterns.
What is your professional training?
Sean Jarman
After majoring in Psychology from Emory and Henry College, I began working with at-risk teens in a wilderness camp in Hendersonville, NC, for almost 10 years.
From there, I went on to get my Master’s in Counseling from Clemson University and in 2000 became a Licensed Professional Counselor. Since then I have become a LENS Practitioner and Reiki Practitioner.
For the last 30 years, I have worked in a wide variety of settings, including adolescent and adult Outpatient and Inpatient units, nursing homes, schools and public behavioral health. I have also been a public speaker and trainer on mental health issues.
Allison Davis
I have multiple years of experience in counseling, am a native to the area, and had the benefit of gaining my Counseling Degree from Montreat College. Since graduating, I have gained experience in both community outreach as well as private practice.
What do you need to make the most out of working with me?
I need you to have a desire to make changes. I need you to trust yourself that you can change and feel better. Having an open mind and being flexible helps us move through the pain and suffering more effectively. We will build trust together, and I will walk with you all the way through.
Can I drink in a session?
Yes, please bring your non-alcoholic beverage of choice. Our office does offer filtered water.
What kind of tissue do you use?
Most often I use Puffs in the cute patterned cardboard boxes.
Is there music?
There will be soft relaxing music – usually in the form of binaural beats wrapped in beautiful tones.
Can I draw or take notes?
Absolutely! I also use a dry erase board to illustrate points, and many of my clients will also take a photo to look at later.
Will I be graded on my homework?
Fortunately, there are no grades. However, completing homework can be an indicator of your investment in the process. It’s totally up to you.
Can I bring a hairbrush, and do you have a mirror?
Yes, please do. After a LENS session, your hair might be a bit undone – and I am not a hairdresser. I do have a mirror in the office.
